Firefox 5.0 Released - Download Now

Finally, Mozilla released Firefox 5.0 for Windows, Mac, Linux and Android, after just 3 months of the release of 4.0. According to Mozilla, Firefox 5.0 includes more than 1,000 improvements and performance enhancements and also adds support for more modern Web technologies making it easier for developers to build amazing Firefox Add-ons, Web applications and websites.


Firefox for Android also includes the Do Not Track privacy feature in this release, making Firefox the first browser to support Do Not Track on multiple platforms. The Do Not Track feature gives users more control over the way their browsing behavior is tracked and used on the Web. Users can easily opt-out of online behavioral tracking from Firefox Preferences. Firefox 5.0 also adds support for IPv6, "overflow: scroll" and "overflow: auto" CSS properties, Restartless Add-ons and HTML5 online/offline events.

Firefox 5.0 now supports CSS animation, which was only available in Webkit based browsers such as Chrome and Safari. There are also improvements to canvas, JavaScript, memory and networking performance, as well as updated standards support for HTML5, XHR, MathML, SMIL and canvas. Now Firefox also has better desktop integration for Linux users.


Firefox 5.0 also patches many security holes including five "Critical" security holes.
